The length of an NFL football field, 361 feet, will be the weight of the exhibit, which weighs 6,000 tons. Many of the important components of the USS Cincinnati will be on display in an interactive exhibit, according to the organizers of the show.

A future generation of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) leaders is what officials hope the exhibit will inspire.

The U.S. Navy’s nuclear-powered submarine, which was in service from 1978 to 1996, was sentenced to be scrapped in 2012, according to officials, and would have remained there had not preservation efforts for this unique parks project been initiated years earlier.

Subcincy.org will provide information and updates regarding the USS Cincinnati memorial.
