Relief as Missing Newborn from Chapel Hill Found Safe, Amber Alert Cancelled

A missing infant boy was discovered safely in Durham, according to Chapel Hill Police, two hours after an Amber Alert was sent out.

According to authorities on Monday night, an Amber Alert was issued at 6:45 p.m. for a missing baby who was last seen on Friday with his parents at a motel in Chapel Hill.

Authorities declared that they were searching for eight-day-old Jaxton Brown. At 8:45 p.m., the police reported that he was safely found, but they gave no further information.

Police earlier stated, without providing further details, that they thought the baby was in danger. He was last seen on Friday at the Red Roof Inn, located at 5623 Fordham Blvd., close to the Durham border. He was born on Sunday, February 18. He has blonde hair, and blue eyes, and weighs seven pounds.

His parents are Durham native Justin Lee Brown, 29, and Garner native Destinee Ariel Cothran, 26.
