Cincinnati: A 21-month-old child’s death in 2022 may result in a life sentence for a Roselawn mother and her boyfriend. Hydia Hamilton-Smith, 25, and Rodney Williams, 32, were charged in relation to Darnell Gamble’s death, according to a Tuesday announcement from Hamilton County prosecutor Melissa Powers.

Williams is the boyfriend of Hamilton-Smith, and Hamilton-Smith is the mother of Gamble. Investigators claim that on July 31, 2022, Hamilton-Smith called 911 to report that Gamble had sustained burn injuries.

When Gamble arrived at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, doctors eventually declared him dead. Head trauma was found to be the cause of his death.
