CCG – In a shooting case before DC Superior Court Judge Lynn Leibovitz, the defendant accepted a plea offer by pledging that “there was no legal justification for the shooting”.
When Raymond Robinson, 43, was involved in a non-fatal shooting incident on February 10 in a home on the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE, he was first charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
Robinson’s lawyer, Nikki Lotze, informed the court on May 20 that his client was taking a plea bargain from the prosecution.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Robinson had to admit to assault causing serious bodily harm and carrying a handgun without a permit to prevent the prosecution from requesting an indictment.
Additionally, the prosecution consented to reduce their requested sentence to 19 months.
Robinson was standing over the victim, who was “on the floor covered in blood,” when officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrived at the scene, according to the prosecution, who claimed that if the case had gone to trial, they would have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Robinson was the perpetrator.
For sentencing, the parties are scheduled to return on August 9.
