Dallas Arrest Ex-NFL 1st-Round Pick, Previously Linked to Cowboys, Faces Drug and Weapon Charges

FRISCO: A year ago, Damon Arnette entered a guilty plea to end a criminal gun case. However, he later told falsehoods, saying he was going to meet with the Dallas Cowboys to discuss signing a contract.

After receiving an injunction from the Clark County District Court in Las Vegas to never again handle a firearm, Arnette told reporters, “If I’m blessed enough to get another chance in the NFL, then I’m going to kill that.”

Arnette made a poor choice of words considering that in January 2022, he was arrested for assault and carrying a gun “in a threatening manner” at a hotel valet stand on the Las Vegas Strip. Arnette was a former first-round draft pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.

And he’s in trouble once more now that he’s actually in DFW.

Following testimony that he threatened two hotel valets with a.45-caliber revolver following an altercation over a parking receipt at the Park MGM, he was indicted in May of last year.

Additionally, there have been earlier claims about Arnette’s involvement with firearms. Along with a gun in the driver’s side door, he was also charged with drug violations when Las Vegas police stopped and detained him on suspicion of drug and gun offenses. They also discovered what they suspected to be cocaine in the car. Arnette’s passenger who was carrying a pistol was also taken into custody.

“I’m well-informed now. At the time, 26-year-old Arnette told reporters, “I’m sorry about everything.” “I respect and value one more chance. Compared to then, I’m a better man.

In that instance, Arnette’s admission of guilt resulted in the charges being dropped to misdemeanors, sparing her from going to trial for the felonies of assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a hidden firearm, which together carries a maximum sentence of ten years in state prison.

But if Arnette disobeyed the “no-guns” order, he might have spent a year behind bars.

And now it’s said that Arnette, who was raised in Dallas, went to Miami for high school, excelled at Ohio State, but never had a significant career effect, has done just that.
