Docs Man Accused After Supplying Teen With Fentanyl Tablets That Resulted in Overdose Death

WESTFIELD, Indiana —

Following allegations that he sold fentanyl that caused someone to die, a 20-year-old Indianapolis man who was recently sought by Westfield police was formally charged in Hamilton County.

Court records state that Tha Dah has been formally charged with a Level 1 felony—dealing in a controlled substance that causes death. On Wednesday, Hamilton County court opened the sealed court records related to the event.

Police from the Carmel and Westfield departments were summoned to an apartment in Westfield on October 23, 2023, in reference to a reported overdose and cardiac arrest. Joshua Casnave, age 18, was allegedly overdosing on drugs when police came, according to reports. Following the administration of Narcan, Casnave was brought to a nearby hospital after regaining consciousness.

Shortly after, on Nov. 5, 2023, in the morning, Westfield Police Department officers were summoned to the same apartment regarding a cardiac arrest/overdose with Casnave. Casnave was declared deceased following this occurrence.

A plastic cut straw with residue was found by first responders searching Casnave’s bedroom. They also found seven M30 blue pills, which subsequently tested positive for fentanyl.

Casnave’s parents apparently observed a $100 “unusual” CashApp payment that Casnave made to a user going by the name “Ace Gbo” during the course of the investigation.

Police connected the “Ace Gbo” account to Dah through the use of search warrants and other investigative methods. Dah was incarcerated in Marion County for five years at home after being charged with dealing in a controlled narcotic in the past.

Investigators believe an apparent drug trade occurred because officials connected Dah and Casnave on the evening of November 3 using Dah’s ankle monitor, Casnave’s Google Maps, CashApp usage, and cell phone history. Casnave’s girlfriend, who supposedly went with him to the trade, also spoke with police about this.

As per earlier reports, Dah might spend 20 to 40 years behind bars if found guilty on the charge. Dah is being held in the Hamilton County jail on a $250,000 bond at the moment.
