Hoover Highway Horror: One Killed, Another Injured in I-459 Crash

HOOVER, Alabama (WIAT): A two-vehicle collision on I-459 SB in Hoover on Friday morning resulted in the death of one person.

The collision occurred on I-459 SB between Hwy 31 and John Hawkins Parkway at approximately 10:09 a.m., according to the Hoover Police Department. One of the affected cars went off the road and ran into a tree.

Three cars were seen speeding on I-459, according to witnesses. A Nissan Sentra hit by another car veered off the road and collided with a tree. At the scene, one person inside the Nissan was declared deceased. A second individual was sent with severe injuries to a nearby hospital.

After leaving the collision scene, the drivers of the other two cars started a police pursuit through Helena.

A single-car collision involving a Jeep Cherokee occurred at the junction of Highway 31 and I-459. In that area, someone was arrested without any problems.

Police from Hoover and Helena pursued the third car, a BMW M4. The vehicle kept running away. When the suspect turned himself in at the Chevron on Morgan Road, the chase ended without any more injuries.

Hoover City Jail is the place where both suspects are being kept. The District Attorney’s Office for Jefferson County will be tasked with reviewing the case before filing official charges.

The authorities are looking into the circumstances behind the incident. For the duration of the investigation, drivers in the vicinity should anticipate severe delays on I-459.

The person who died in the collision is not being identified until their next of kin has been notified.
