Murder Charges Filed Two Teens Allegedly Involved in Garinger High School Student's Death

The 17-year-old kid was fatally shot in east Charlotte last month, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has reported that two adolescents are being held in connection with the incident.

On January 16, police were called to a residence on Audrey Street about an attack with a deadly weapon.

Seventeen-year-old Daikwan Jedarren Deese was declared dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. His high school was Garinger.

Two minors, ages 17 and 16, were taken into custody in this matter, according to a police announcement on February 29.

In addition to assault with a dangerous weapon to kill or seriously injure someone, the 17-year-old is also accused of conspiracy to commit murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the same goal.

Along with these additional charges, the 16-year-old is accused of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill or seriously hurt someone.

The juvenile detention center in Cabarrus County is where both teenagers are being kept.
