Tennessee Couple Faces Prison Time for Drug Trafficking in Virginia

A Tennessee couple who had been smuggling heroin and methamphetamine into Lee County was given heavy jail sentences on Friday.

October 2022 saw the guilty pleas of Knoxville, Tennessee residents Billy Justin King, 30, and his wife Billie Jo McGuire, 30, to one count each of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, one count of conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, and one count of possession with the intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine.

King also admitted to having a gun while committing a drug trafficking offense.

McGuire received a sentence of 24 months in prison, while King received a sentence of 15 years.

To sell heroin and methamphetamine in and around Lee County and the Knoxville, Tennessee, area, McGuire and King allegedly conspired with Robert Earl Warr, Robert Lee Jenkins, and other individuals, such as John Joel Foster, Ray Anthony McSwain, Garrett Lee Teffeteller, Darin Thomas, and David Edward Farmer, according to court documents.

Methamphetamine and heroin were reportedly transported into Lee County by King and McGuire from Eastern Tennessee for further distribution.

McGuire helped her husband with his drug activities by weighing the pills, calculating money, taking King’s mobile phone calls, and organizing drug customers, even though King was the “leader” amongst the two.
