Two of Vang’s children were present when the police arrived. When Vang was shot, they had been in two different areas of the house.

According to Vang’s kid, he heard a knock on the door and heard his mother talking to someone when she replied. After that, he claimed to have heard a loud band and believed his mother had collapsed. When he went to see how she was doing, he saw that she was on the ground and that their screen door’s glass was broken.

When the son turned to look outside, nobody was there.

Police first listed 22-year-old Jackson Bleything as a person of interest in the shooting, as News Center 7 previously reported. In court filings eventually filed against him, he was referred to as a suspect in the shooting.

On March 17, he was taken into custody by Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents and deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office. He is currently facing charges in Xenia Municipal Court for attempted felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and possession of criminal instruments.

News Center 7 had earlier questioned Yellow Springs Police Chief Paige Burge about potential charges, including one for the fatal shooting. Holding someone accountable for the homicide is the aim, she stated.
