Little Rock, Arkansas – As part of a new initiative unveiled on Thursday, federal cash for significant infrastructure repairs will be provided to three airports in Arkansas.

The Texarkana Regional Airport, the Northwest Arkansas National Airport in Bentonville, and the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock will all receive terminal enhancements thanks to the $30.275 million grant.

This money is a component of the Airport Terminal Program established by the 2022 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which aims to upgrade domestic airports by 2026 with a total of $5 billion.

The $8 million in investment from Clinton National will go toward building a new, 70,000-square-foot central utility facility in the second of four phases. This stage will see the completion of utility relocation, switchboard replacement for two, and drainage.

According to Shane Carter, the airport’s director of public affairs and governmental relations, the funds are being used to update the infrastructure, which is 52 years old.

Carter said, “Once in operation, the central utility plant will allow for the construction of a new baggage claim and security checkpoint, among other terminal upgrades. It will replace 52-year-old infrastructure.”

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the Texarkana airport will utilize its $9.275 million to finance the last stage of construction for its new terminal building.

The building’s outside will be renovated, and impact-rated bollards, concrete roads, security fences, and accessible pathways will all be installed.

The $13 million that is on its way to XNA is designated for initiatives that aim to promote accessibility and enhance the quality of life for people with functional needs.

According to FAA authorities, this will entail upgrading the baggage system, replacing and installing escalators, building an upper-level walkway bridge, and enlarging the terminal.
