A guy was shot and killed by Alabama state police on Monday. According to state police officials, the man had allegedly threatened people at a bank, led police on a chase, and eventually barricaded himself in a residence.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) was notified that a person was brandishing a knife at a bank in Ozark, Dale County.
Boyd Douglas Phillips, 47, of Ozark was the subject of an effort to stop by an ALEA Trooper assigned to the Highway Patrol Division, according to state police.
A car chase then started, which finally ended in Ozark at the 100 Block of Hub Street. After that, Phillips ran away and locked himself inside a nearby house.
ALEA SWAT arrived on the scene to assist, as did several local law enforcement organizations. Officers from ALEA SWAT fired bullets at Phillips throughout the encounter. It was declared that Phillips was dead. During the event, no cops suffered any injuries.
